More Genetic Research

Arch Gen Psychiatry — Abstract: A Genetic Family-Based Association Study of OLIG2 in Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, February 2007, Stewart et al. 64 (2): 209

The Search Continues

It is known that there is a high degree of inheritance in ones developing OCD. The exact role that genetics plays has yet to be determined. But the search continues. And they have found something interesting.

Pregnancy Risk Factors in OCD

This is a small study of people with OCD that looked at environmental factors focusing on factors around gestation in particular. It found some interesting things. Compared to a control group is seems a couple of things like edema and long labor were more common in those who later developed OCD.

Here is a blog post referencing a study done on OCD treatment.

They mention a remarkable reduction/cessation of OCD symptoms for a short period of time.
