Does this mean we get a new number?
I kind of liked the old one (DSM-IV) 300.3
I do think think OCD is bit misclassified as being an anxiety disorder. It is more then then that or different at any rate. For many folks with OCD, for instance, disgust is more intense then anxiety at least at first. The anxiety follows shortly after.

Oh, I dunno - DSM-V has a ring to it.
I think the two are so interwound that its hard to know when one stops and another starts - BUT I totally agree with you, Inc: the OCD does start first. The shame is, if you don’t catch it really early, you develop an adjoining anxiety problem and they both feed off each other becoming nigh-unbreakable.
Hence the amount of misdiagnosis between OCD and GAD I guess…

Yeah but if they change the 300.3 to something else I will have to get a new t-shirt printed up…
Misdiagnoses is a problem for sure. Of course these classifications and categories are not that exact and each individual is unique in their thought processes normal and disordered. So boxing it in by classifying it is inexact at best. I think insurance companies are the only entity that finds these numbers and such really useful.
