USA Network’s Hit Series MONK Helps Clean Up Chicago Streets With Free Car Wash Fridays
Overall I think they do a pretty good job, at least the last time I watched, of handling OCD in Monk. I was a little concerned when it first came out, you know, a comedy based on a character with OCD. It’s hard enough living with OCD, we don’t need to be laughed at too. But they do OK. And I don’t really have any problem with the above promotion either, though it is something of a sideways poke at OCD folk.
I am just getting a little uneasy. It’s great that there are lots of movies and other things in the media that show OCD. the more it is out there the more folks that have it might recognize that they do have something. It’s a sad fact that most of us with OCD go years, decades even, fighting this war and never tell anyone or seek treatment until out lives are prett well trashed. So the more it is out, the better. I just get worried that it is becoming to uh, trendy. That won’t help us at all.
