Another of the negative aspects of living with OCD (are there any positive?) is the impact it has on those that care about us. I don’t think enough attention has been paid to this.

At best we will drive them nuts from time to time. At worst, especially if they give in to our demands for reassurance we suck the life out of the relationship. As we wander in our private nightmare and try to force those around us to walk the same steps, well, it doesn’t do relationships a lot of good.

It was certainly a contributing factor in both of my divorces and the main reason I am still single. I don’t need to go through all of that again. Though being alone is not my goal in life.

Obsessive-compulsive Disorder: A Primer For Family And Friends

A new book is coming out on the subject. I have not read it yet, as it is being released tomorrow, but from the interview with the author and the review on Amazon it looks like like it will be pretty good. I look forward to reading it.

I have had an idea I have been kicking around for a stage play where the central character has OCD. The thought of doing it as a musical never crossed my mind.

From the press release it sounds like it could be fun. Great premise. Though, as always, I am concerned that it not further the stigma of this illness as being bizarre and funny. If I was in NY (and had the money) I would definitely check this out.

Who would have thought it? A musical.

Software with OCD? Well when you think about it I suppose most software would be diagnosed with it of course without the anxiety and loss of function.

In any case this is a Firefox extension called ocd…

If you are not using Firefox you really should be giving it a try. I can’t even imagine designing a website without it and the webdev toolbar extension.
